Payroll Officer

Morgan Griffiths LLP is currently seeking a payroll professional to assist in the processing of a portfolio of clients’ payroll in a timely and accurate manner.

This is an opportunity to join a local accountancy practice offering a full range of accountancy and advisory services.  Ideally the candidate should have payroll experience and experience of working within an accountancy practice is desirable but not essential.

The role includes the processing and reporting for over 200 payrolls with varying pay frequencies and communicating with clients in line with strict deadlines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Processing payrolls for clients as per clients’ requirements.
  • Administering and reporting statutory entitlements, ATEO’s and CIS.
  • Processing starters and leavers under RTI regulations, ensuring P45/P46 information is correctly inputted on the system and filing all relevant information with HMRC in a timely manner.
  • Processing year end payroll procedures and distributing P60s.
  • Calculating and processing CIS returns and submitting to HMRC.
  • Managing Auto enrolment requirements, including assessing all staff and submitting contribution details to the relevant pension providers.
  • Providing advice to clients in relation to pay, tax and national insurance issues.
  • Remain up to date with the latest legislation affecting payroll.
  • Provide high standard and quality support, advice and guidance to managers, staff and clients on payroll related matters, remaining aware of the sensitive nature of the information and confidentiality requirements.
  • General bookkeeping duties.
  • Assisting the wider accounts team, when required

Requirements:

  • Experience of running multiple payrolls to continuously strict deadlines, including technical aspects of SSP, SMP, SPP, Shpp, CIS and other statutory entitlements.
  • An excellent understanding of payroll processes with up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, assisting and supporting others in a proactive manner.
  • Able to deal with wide range of clients in a polite and professional manner, predominantly by phone or email.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Extremely organised with excellent time management skills.
  • Problem solver, with a keen eye for detail and analytics.
  • IT literate in Microsoft packages, such as Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Bookkeeping experience is advantageous.
